Radtke Marine is seeking a Diesel Mechanic with a marine background. We are located in the heart of the maritime community of Ballard in Seattle, WA. We have been in business for over 30 years and are looking for the right person to help us grow.

We specialize in parts, sales and service for Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit, john deere and Mitsubishi marine and industrial diesel engines. You will be responsible for repairing various vessels and transmission systems.

This role requires the ability to stand up at a minimum of eight hours per day and includes twisting, bending, squatting, sitting stooping, kneeling and lifting up to 50 pounds in small spaces and using appropriate rigging for items over 50 lbs.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and Repair the above-mentioned engine types
• Overhauls of diesel engines, including the repairs and remanufactures of components
• Perform routine maintenance
• Use diagnostic tools and background knowledge to test and diagnose components
• Perform quality inspections prior to returning vessels to service
• You are required to provide your own tools
• Work in a fast-paced environment and sometimes stressful situations
• Be a team player and interact well across workgroups to fulfill customer needs

Qualifications:

• 1-3+ years of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic preferred (heavy-duty / truck background is ok)Knowledge of shop equipment and tools
  • 1-3 years previous Caterpillar engine (marine or generator) experience is also preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Fundamental electrical knowledge
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and Outlook
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Desire to work in a marine shop environment
• Travel for extended periods of time to work with our customers will also be required at times therefore, you must have and maintain a valid state driver's license
• Must have the ability to work on a rotation schedule.
